What we LOVE about Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel is the hippie and free-spirited vibe of the place. It is like an island of its own, being detached to the world in a really good way. The place actively promotes having a good time through good music and social interaction. They hold parties every weekend at the bar area which guarantees a fun and chill way to cap off the day.
Located in San Juan, La Union and approximately 4-6 hours away from Manila, it can be easily be one of your favorite places to go when you just want to disengage from the bustling city life and just have a chill weekend. La Union has made a name of its own as one of the best Philippine destination for surfing and Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel offers surfing lessons with the perfect waves of the sea. The beach is best for surfing since you can’t really swim on the strong current and waves.
The rooms may vary depending upon your preference as they have regular and airconditioned rooms. The interiors are very soothing to the eyes with the soft color tones and minimalistic decorations. The exterior is splashed with vibrant colors that is totally an eye candy.
They have their very own restaurant and the Makai Bowls and both serve really delectable dishes.
Once you are done indulging in their flavorful food, don’t forget to clean as you go as their elves have been abducted by aliens. The overnight accommodation comes with breakfast buffet that serves bread with a variety of spreads, some fruits, freshly brewed coffee or juice, and cereals.
The feel of the whole place is very hippie and indie which is ideal for people who want to disconnect from the real world for a while. The hammocks and bean bags under the cool shade of a nipa hut totally add to the relaxing and care-free environment that the place gives off.
Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel is unquestionably a great weekend or summer getaway for people looking to have a good time.
